Last week The Green Children performed at The Times Center in New York City. They were performing as part of a ‘Sing for Hope’ concert organized by Monica Yunus and Camille Zamora. The evening was raising funds for educational scholarships for poor children in Bangladesh. Professor Muhammad Yunus was the honorary guest at the event, celebrating the one year anniversary of his Nobel Peace Prize. It was a magical evening with many memorable performances. The Green Children help the farmers of Kenya

(The Green Children Orphans Garden)

The Green Children Foundation has supplied the first ever tractors to the Nyanza province of eastern Kenya. In the tradition of microcredit, each farmer pays a small amount to rent the tractors and thus the project becomes sustainable.Since they arrived, both tractors have been in use for 10 hours a day. The farmers are very happy to have received the opportunity to increase their production.

The project is run by ARC Kenya, who rent the tractors from their solar powered center in the rural area.

The Green Children orphans garden is also situated in this eco-friendly center and is now almost complete. Tom and Milla were honored to plant the first trees during their stay. This garden will function as an activity center for local orphans and provide fruit which they can cultivate to generate some income.
